Mary Bestor

–

Rockton, Illinois

Mary Lou Bestor peacefully passed away at home on December 13, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Mary was born on May 16, 1941, at home in Hancock, WI, to Archibald & Margaret Brown.

In her early teenage years she met the man she said she'd marry and in 1959 she married the love of her life, Donald L. Bestor and they were blessed with three children, Anna Webb, Katherine Carothers, and Edward Bestor, 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren who meant the world to her, including Gavin & Jordan who Don and Mary raised and remained at home with them. As with Don, everything Mary did in life revolved around the love she had for her family. Mary was an avid accordion player, enjoyed assorted crafts, making things for family members, garage sales, family history and long car rides.

Mary is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Charlotte Bestor. She also had many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt dearly. Mary looked forward to her nightly game of "Words With Friends" with her sister. She will surely be missed by her pooches, Nova and Archie.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Jeanette Stogsdill, brothers Douglas Brown, Kenneth Brown and Ron Stogsdill, brother-in-law William Bestor, sisters-in-law Dolores (Willis) Gritzmaker and Karen (Joseph) Cmelak who she considered her younger sister.

Per Mary’s request, cremation rites to be accorded. There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
